More Information OsteO-3 is a comprehensive supplement formulated to supply the arthritic dog with ingredients known to enhance joint health, strength, energy and mobility.
Glucosamine and Perna Canaliculus stimulate synovial fluid synthesis and replenish the essential nutrients necessary to maintain healthy cartilage and prevent joint degradation. Creatine Monohydrate supplies energy
for muscle contraction which in turn, helps increase muscle strength, and endurance. Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane (MSM) helps to alleviate the pain commonly associated with joint inflammation while Omega-3 Fatty Acids
(EPA and DHA) have been added for enhanced anti-inflammatory activity. OsteO-3 also contains potent antioxidants such as Vitamin E, Alpha Lipoic Acid and Grape Seed Extract to combat enzymatic damage caused by free
radicals.
Your Pet's Joints
Each
time your pet moves, the joint capsule absorbs the shock of impact, while cartilage prevents the ends of the bones from damaging each other in movement. The synovial membrane (synovium) shields the joint and
contains synovial fluid, which nourishes and lubricates the joint while forming a barrier to inflammatory cells. Your pet's joints rely on healthy synovial fluid to transport the vital nutrients needed by cartilage
and other connective tissues.
Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD)
Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) also known as Osteoarthritis, results in articular (joint) cartilage degeneration and can threaten your pet?s mobility and
quality of life. With DJD, trauma or stress can cause damage to the tissues that enclose the joint, as well as the synovium and the fibrous joint capsule. When the joint tissue is damaged, white blood cells from
nearby vessels begin to invade the joint space releasing destructive enzymes and free radicals that further deteriorate the joint cartilage. Weakened by enzymatic damage, the synovial fluid becomes less viscous and
loses its ability to properly lubricate. In addition, the synovial fluid becomes progressively unable to provide nourishment, making it difficult for the articular cartilage to repair itself. This leads to
degeneration of the articular cartilage ultimately exposing the bone to friction during movement which causes inflammation, pain and decreased mobility.
