More Information Cephalexin is a broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the skin, urinary tract, respiratory tract, bones and joints. It is available as
250mg and 500mg capsules and as a liquid containing 250mg/5ml. When mixed with water the liquid should be kept in the refrigerator and any unused portion should be discarded after 14 days. The usual dose for dogs
and cats is 5-15mg/pound by mouth every 8 to 12 hours. (Sold per capsule).

How this medicine should be used Metronidazole
is not FDA approved for use in veterinary medicine; however, it is a commonly accepted practice for veterinarians to use this medication in dogs and cats. The usual dose in dogs is 3-23mg/pound 1-4 times a day. The
usual dose in cats is 5-23mg/pound 1-2 times a day. The actual dose and the duration of treatment depend on the specific condition being treated. Do not crush the tablet because it has a very bitter taste.
What are the side effects Side
effects of metronidazole may include nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, rash and incoordination. This medication may discolor the urine reddish-brown.
What special precautions are there This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals. Use with caution in animals with liver disease or blood
disorders. Use with caution when given with phenytoin or anticoagulants such as warfarin. Always tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what other medications your pet is taking. Give this medication with food.
