More Information Temaril- P is used for the treatment of itching and coughing in dogs. Available as scored tablets, the usual dose for dogs up to 10 pounds is 1/2 tablet, 11-20
pounds is 1 tablet, 21-40 pounds is 2 tablets, and over 40 pounds is 3 tablets. These doses are given twice a day. (sold per tablet).

What is this medication used for Temaril-P
is a combination product containing trimeprazine (5mg) and prednisolone (2mg) used for the relief of itching, regardless of cause. It is also used in the treatment of various cough conditions such as kennel cough,
bronchitis, and coughs of nonspecific origin.
Availability Temaril-P is available by prescription as scored tablets.
How this medicine should be used Temaril-P
is FDA approved for use in dogs only. The usual dose is based on weight. For dogs up to 10 pounds give ½ tablet, 11-20 pounds give 1 tablet, 21-40 pounds give 2 tablets and 41 pounds and up give 3 tablets. These
doses are given twice a day. The dose is typically reduced after four days to ½ of the initial dose.
What are the side effects Side
effects when using Temaril-P can relate to either ingredient. Trimeprazine can cause drowsiness, tremors and muscle weakness. The corticosteroid, prednisolone, can cause symptoms of Cushing's disease such as
increased thirst, urination and hunger as well as vomiting and diarrhea.
What special precautions are there Do not use Temaril-P in animals allergic to either ingredient. Cough due to an underlying bacterial infection requires antibiotic therapy as well. Do not use in
pregnant or diabetic animals. Use caution when giving with sedatives, anesthetics, pain medications, epinephrine and procaine. Do not give with phenytoin, phenobarbital, diuretics, quinidine or insulin. Always tell
your veterinarian and pharmacist what other medications your pet is taking.
