What is this medication used for Cyclosporine
Modified capsule is a selective immunomodulator. It is used for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in dogs.

Modified capsule is a prescription medication available as oral soft capsules packaged in blister packs.
How this medication should be used Cyclosporine Modified capsule is FDA approved for use in veterinary medicine for dogs at least 6 months of age and at least 4.5 lbs. The usual dose is
2.5mg/pound. Dogs 4-6.5lbs give 1 x 10mg capsule, 6.6-9lbs give 2 x 10mg capsules, 9.1-16lbs give 1 x 25mg capsule, 16.1-33lbs give 1 x 50mg capsule, 33.1-64lbs give 1 x 100mg capsule, 64.1-79lbs give 1 x 100mg and
1 x 50mg capsules and for dogs 79.1-121lbs give 2 x 100mg capsules. The medication should be given 2 hours before or after feeding. Cyclosporine Modified is initially given once a day until satisfactory improvement
is seen, usually 4 to 8 weeks. The medication can then be given every other day until the clinical signs of atopic dermatitis are satisfactorily controlled, then the medication can be given every 3 to 4 days.
What are the side effects Side
effects of Cyclosporine Modified capsule include GI disturbances such as vomiting, soft stool or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and transient. Other side effects that occur very rarely include, muscle
cramps, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, gingival hypertrophy and change of hair coat.
What special precautions are there The safety of use in breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs has not been determined. It should not be used in dogs with known hypersensitivity or allergy to the
drug. The drug should be avoided in dogs with kidney impairment, stomach ulcers and certain blood disorders. Prolonged use of Cyclosporine Modified can result in bacterial or fungal infection related to deficiency
of the immune system. Cyclosporine Modified may decrease the immune response in case of malignancy. Cyclosporine Modified may interact with other medications such as ACE inhibitors, phenobarbital, cimetidine,
cisapride, systemic coticosteroids, digoxin, griseofulvin, metoclopramide, metronidazole, NSAIDS, phenytoin, potassium salts, and Ketoconazole. The medication is bitter. Do not empty the contents of the capsule.
